3 1/2 stars. I'm feeling a little sad, because this is the first book by Sharon and Tom Curtis that I didn't absolutely love. It has many excellent qualities, particularly a hero of the soft-spoken, elegant, witty, yet absolutely reliable type that I adore. But the plot is kind of dumb and the "naive heroine who always gets into scrapes and has to be rescued" trope annoys me. I certainly know why Frances fell in love with David, but I have no idea why he fell in love with her.
