Only a Whisper

Only a Whisper - Gayle Wilson Federal agent Rae Phillips spent a heartwrenching night transcribing the last words of a man tortured to death by a drug cartel. She's never been able to forget it--and unfortunately, she's not the only one. When she is kidnapped by a mysterious Colombian who wants to know the secrets of that night, Rae is determined not to betray her team, but she is strangely drawn to her captor. He seems to feel the same way... until he decides that she was involved in the torture...I can’t detail everything I liked about this book without spoilers, but I thought it was a very good romance with a compelling, different kind of hero, and just enough mystery and suspense. I particularly liked that the mystery man calls Rae on her ethnic slurs and forces her to expand her narrow thinking. Rae is perhaps a bit too stupid and stubborn -- and characters named Rae and Rafe in the same book? What was Wilson thinking? But a very enjoyable book overall.
