Hot Night

Hot Night - Shannon McKenna If you're looking for an obsessively worshipful jealous stalker-type romance hero, this is the book for you. It's a wrong-side-of-the-tracks/opposites attract sort of story, with a classy heroine and a bad boy -- though of course, he's not really all that bad and earns plenty of money. But you know, he has tattoos and stuff. This was enjoyable, but I didn't like it as much as McKenna's other books. For one thing, Abby keeps (quite reasonably) rejecting Zan because of his jealous, controlling behavior, then taking him back for no clear reason. If you're going to have a guy who behaves so insanely be the hero of your romance, there's really no point in drawing attention to how nuts he is. I don't remember having a problem with her other stalker heroes, but Zan failed to get me to that "I don't care how crazy he is, this is so romantic" place, somehow. Another problem was that both Zan and Abby are frequently too stupid to live. When suspicious events are going down, and people are acting in suspicious ways, it would be pretty normal to... suspect them. Or at least be on your guard a little bit.Lots of hot sex scenes though, and a pretty good plot aside from the TSTL thing.
