2 1/2 stars. This was very much like a smuttier Harlequin Presents secret baby story, except you'd never get this hero and heroine in an HP. The hero has ties to the Ruffian mafia and a violent past; the heroine is black. Okay -- you might see a Mafia hero in an HP.It was a decent read, though could've used some editing. Alexei was something of a romance stereotype, wanting to crush the woman who had hurt him and simultaneously protect and take care of her, but that always works on me. Eva is mature and sensible, for the most part, and has one of the better reasons to have a secret baby you're likely to come across. The sex scenes are more crude than hot, in my opinion.
