The Wildest Shore - Lisa Cach If you're tired of the same-old same-old Regency romance, this book offers a distinctive voice, a surprising plot and strong characterizations. Anne, a plain brown mouse of a lady's maid, has had vivid dreams of being Queen of an unknown island all her life. When she's in a shipwreck with a carefree young lieutenant, he persuades her to try to find her island, not realizing it will take both of them on a voyage of self-discovery.I got somewhat bogged down in the plot, not being very fond of adventure stories, but I loved so much else, especially the downtrodden heroine discovering her inner strength and the cheeky but inwardly vulnerable hero. The mystical aspects of the story are nicely balanced by earthy, honest descriptions.
