Angel of Darkness

Angel of Darkness (Harlequin Presents, #1712) - Lynne Graham I'm hereby granting this book the Penny Jordan Romance Award for Hero Douchbaggery and Heroine Spinelessness. I dunno, perhaps in the right mood I would have enjoyed the drama, but the level of humiliation and pain the hero inflicts on the heroine just turned my stomach. Him calling her a tramp after she had almost been raped was bad enough, but then laughing at her when she tried to explain... and that's only the start of the good times. He repeatedly humiliates/abuses her, she repeatedly falls into helpless lust at his every touch. And really, that's the main problem. I can forgive just about any hero horrificness if only the heroine shows some spine, but I just can't enjoy a romance when my brain is always going, "Holy crap woman, how can you possibly keep wanting to sleep with this louse?"
